Job Description

Develop and improve manufacturing processes in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Support Manufacturing with designs, development, and implementation of quality control methods. Apply knowledge of best known manufacturing principles to improve factory yield.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing and other departments
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develop/Improve manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods to improve quality and productivity while complying with customer, government, and/or internal regulations 
  • Use problem solving methodology such as VSM, cause-effect relatives, fault-tree analysis, fishbone, etc.
  • Test effectiveness of new or updated manufacturing methods and record results 
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Perform process and design reviews and suggest improvements for manufacturability
  • Train and guide technicians/end users on new processes, etc.
  • Process flow diagrams, time studies, SPC, FMECA
  • Other projects as assigned

Requirements

  • BS or MS in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering AND 2+ years of related experience
  • Able to read and interpret GD&T; as well as manipulate/develop 3D CAD models
  • Work as a self-starter with minimal supervision
  • Solid communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal        
  • Familiar with various standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME
  • Experience in a machine shop a plus
